What is the purpose of Finding Fortress?
We have been brought together as a band to write music with a message of positive lyrical content, which clearly reflects our faith, love, and trust in Jesus Christ. We write music in a few different styles from alternative rock, pop, to praise and worship.

What does Finding Fortress mean?
Finding Fortress is based on Psalm 31:3 – “Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me.” (NIV). Essentially “fortress” is a name of God – so Finding Fortress clearly means Finding God. The rest of this verse refers to being lead by God – which incidentally fits our debut album title: Lead.

How did Finding Fortress begin?
In the late Winter of 2008, while feeling a strong call from the Lord to start a Christian band in the Sparta Wisconsin area, Aaron Anderson (bass, vocals) and Francisco Reyes (drums) decided to form a group. They began the search for band mates who have also felt a calling and would fit with the style and direction of the band. In calling around to local churches in the area they were referred by a pastor to a worship and youth group leader named Brendan Brooks (acoustic guitar, vocals) who then joined the band.

In practicing for some time in a church in Sparta Wisconsin, they soon realized they were in need of an electric guitarist. Through the help of some local friends, they contacted a local named Jim Brashear. Jim had been involved with Christian bands in the past and was feeling the call to get involved again.

Together the four of us started practicing and writing our first originals. Through months of practicing and preparation, we were finally ready for our first concert. On July 12, 2009 we were the opening act for a touring band. The concert proved to be a great success and through the guidance of the Holy Spirit we are now looking into scheduling more concerts in the near future. More concerts and live performances including Christian schools with packed gyms, and more have happened since then – and we hope as the Lord leads more is to come.

Our first CD titled “Lead” is now available. This CD includes 13 tracks of all original music written by the members of Finding Fortress.
